Broadway’s Back! Inside Dance Has The Scoop!

For Inside Dance magazine, our first-ever ‘Broadway Issue’ is up next. People often ask me what my favorite Broadway show is, and that’s a question for which I don’t think I’ll ever have an answer! There’s nothing quite like a live theatrical experience and each one is special in its own unique way. There are shows that are pure entertainment, shows that make you think and re-think, shows that make you laugh, and shows that make you tap your feet and sing along. But no matter the show, you most often leave the theatre feeling changed in some way. 

Broadway performers are some of the most hard-working in showbiz. For those that are part of inaugural casts of shows, there are no words that can describe what goes into creating a show from scratch – the rewrites, the choreography revisions and the constant updates leading up to opening (and after!) require immense mental and physical fortitude. And for all that entertainment night after night, being able to deliver a performance that feels brand new every time is a gift – and one we should never take for granted.

Broadway is back, and Broadway is big. From the splashy marquees to features on television, in print and elsewhere, the lights are beaming bright again and stars are shining. And let’s also remember the reach of Broadway around the world. From Chicago to London to the ships at sea, the opportunity to see a world-class theatrical production has never been more accessible. 

Speaking of Chicago, I was just fortunate enough to be able to see the very first preview performance of The Devil Wears Prada in the city and I’d like to say a huge congratulations to the cast for finally bringing this to life! The show had so much momentum and buzz pre-pandemic, charted unusual waters in development through the pandemic and the cast finally got to perform for a packed house in July. With music from Elton John and under the direction of Anna D. Shapiro, the production appears headed for the Big Apple in the Spring.
